Congratulations to new arrivals!
This page is a place for our students to share their
stories, show each other pictures of their new babies, and provide inspiration
to others.
Writing down your story and your experiences allows for
personal reflection; this story will become a treasured memoir for your family.
Consider sharing significant moments during your birth experience: Did you
face a fear? Did you learn something significant about yourself? What
helped you move through the experience? What did you learn that might help other
women move down the pathway towards motherhood?
~I invite you to share your stories with us~

Blair Schepker and baby boy- July 17th, 2008
Despite being
induced, I was able to deliver naturally with no epidural. It was
amazing! My husband was awesome. We used so much from our Lamaze class.
Please tell everyone in class that we are doing well. We are home now
and settling into a routine. |

Kara Dunleavy and baby Bridget- July 12th, 2008: 7lbs, 2
oz.
Well, it looks like I won't be joining you guys
this Thursday for class after all! Our little mystery baby (a girl!)
joined us last Saturday after an amazing birth experience. I'm so
thankful for such wonderful prenatal resources, like your class, and
will forever be singing the praises of prenatal yoga, doulas, midwives
and supportive husbands. |

Amye Brunette and baby Gavin- July 8th, 2008: 8lbs, 5oz
Thank you for helping me through
this pregnancy and for showing me how to take a moment to just breathe.
I have enjoyed your classes and always looked forward to them. I
know that having done this pre-natal yoga this year was so beneficial to
me and my baby. Thanks again. |

Jill Raiford & baby Caroline- June 16, 2008: 8 lbs, 12
oz.
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the
very helpful yoga classes. I was in your Monday prenatal yoga class
until the end of May.
I delivered on June 16, two days past my due date. I am pretty sure I
went into labor around five in the morning but the contractions were not
too bad and I ended up going back to sleep! My husband and I went to the
doctor that morning for my routine appointment. The doctor informed me
that my water broke and I was already dilated about four centimeters! We
walked over to labor and delivery (at MCV) around 10 am. Things
progressed fairly quickly after that. I began getting sick and having
very strong contractions one right after the other. I received an
epidural about an hour later and not long after that it wore off! I
began feeling sick again and having extremely bad contractions. The
doctor decided to check me again and I was dilated 9 centimeters! I
began pushing around 3 pm and delivered a beautiful baby girl at 6pm.
She was 8 pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches long with a head full of hair!
I truly believe that the breathing and relaxation techniques learned in
your classes helped me to remain calm throughout the labor and delivery.
Even when the pain was agonizing and I could barely think, I was
concentrating on my breathing and (attempting) to stay focused.
My recovery has been pretty easy also. I was basically back to my old
self a few days later! There is no doubt that staying active during your
pregnancy makes all the difference in the world. My biggest piece of
advice to the expectant mothers I know is to keep moving! |

Anne Chamberlain and baby Becca- May 23rd, 2008: 7lbs, 7oz
Labor was quick and smooth. We're home, and all
are doing well. Drew
is very proud to be a big brother. He wore his "I am a big
brother"
shirt for two days and wouldn't take it off. Becca is very sweet
and
mellow - already a joy to be with. |
|
Casey Freeman and baby Essa- March 30th, 2008: 8lbs, 4oz.
She took her time coming but decided to be Mom's
birthday present and made quite an entry, labor was fast and furious and
everyone is doing well!
